Making Something Out of (Relatively) Nothing
When I started at Precision Pigging, its gross annual income was approximately $600,000.
When I left 7 years later, the gross annual income was nearly $3M.
We went from zero employees to 17, and I was in the process of opening up two of four new divisions when we parted ways.
Although the company was not, in fact, a start-up (it had been in existence for almost 8 years prior to me joining), it was functionally and effectively just that. There was very little in the way of corporate documentation and registration. There was no considered business plan or vision for growth, as well as little in the way of market recognition. And there was virtually no way for the company to expand as it was.
Luckily, that meant there was considerable room for improvement. Market analysis showed that there were plenty of opportunities for "small players" to get a piece of the industry pie-- as long as we could get the big fish to have some name recognition of our brand.
As such, I set out to develop an aggressive re-branding and marketing campaign. I initiated a complete overhaul and re-design of the website, and matched all of our collateral marketing material (brochures, business cards, etc.) to the website. I increased our visibility and participation at industry trade shows. And I personally reached out to key industry players.
Addressing the corporate structure and planning also significantly contributed to meaningful growth. As a service company, there were clear areas where we could expand our service offerings.
All of these activities contributed to an exponential and progressive increase in gross annual sales, of which I am singularly proud to have been a part.
